That You Fear the Most

"That You Fear the Most" is the twenty-eighth episode of the American television drama series *The Killing*. It aired on June 2, 2013, following the season opener. Dan Nowak wrote the episode, and Lodge Kerrigan directed it. The story follows Detective Holder and Detective Reddick as they pursue an investigation into the world of runaways, where one of them has gone missing. At the same time, death row inmate Ray Seward continues to exert control over the prison and over the detectives who arrested him, James Skinner and Sarah Linden.

In the plot, Linden returns the Kwon file to Holder after visiting a crime scene. They discuss the case, and Linden suggests the killer has struck before. Holder notes the victim’s missing rings and broken finger, asking if Seward took trophies; Linden says no and wishes him luck. Bullet, worried about Kallie, leaves a voicemail and visits Danette, who dismisses her. At police headquarters, Bullet reports Kallie missing to the desk sergeant, then asks Holder for help. In prison, Seward persuades guard Evan Henderson to let him call his lawyer about seeing his son.

Linden visits her old partner Skinner to discuss the Seward case. She tells him Trisha Seward’s finger was broken after death and her wedding ring was never found. Skinner reassures Linden of Seward’s guilt and mentions Seward invited him to the execution. Skinner’s wife Jennifer tells Linden to stay away. On a ferry, Cody tries to comfort Linden, but she ends their relationship. At the Beacon Home, Holder and Reddick question Pastor Mike, who has a tattoo of Ephesians 1:7. He says he last saw Ashley Kwon five days ago and mentions kids sometimes stay at the 7 Star Motel. There, the desk clerk does not recognize Ashley and blames Kallie for spreading misinformation. Outside, Holder recalls Bullet’s search for Kallie and suggests talking to street girls, but Reddick refuses.

Bullet asks others about Kallie and fights pimp Goldie, who jokes Kallie is dead and pulls a gun but does not fire. In prison, Becker reads from an execution manual as Seward smiles, mentioning a relative of Becker’s. Regi finds Linden studying the Seward case file at home. Linden shows her a drawing by Seward’s son, Adrian. Regi warns against disrupting the child’s life. Linden visits Seward, who says Skinner lied in court. When asked about his wife’s ring, Seward claims he sold it but does not
